The largest party Nepali congress in CA has failed to form a national consensus government within the deadline of Sunday given by President Ram Baran Yadab. There have been several round of talks between and among parties representing the CA.But several reasons like power sharing and interests to stay on Opposition have made all its attempts fruitless. Nepali Congress has already presented Sushil Koirala, the Party Parliamentary Leader, as it's candidate, but the major parties like CPN-UML and CPN Maoist didn't assist him on forming the Consensus government although several other small parties have given their written commitment for Sushil Koirala led government.
Now the government formation process will go towards the majority based system. President Yadav is said to be preparing his next call on Monday for the formation of Government based on Majority, under Article 38(2) of the Interim Constitution Of Nepal 2063.
The last attempt on forging consensus failed after the all party meeting on Sunday failed to do so. Only 16 our of 29 parties had supported on Consensus government whereas CPN Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal and the Madeshi Jana Adhikar Forum have decided to stay on opposition and support and criticize the government after seeing it's activity. "We can only wish for the best", CPN Maoist Chairman Prachanda has said.
NC still has Party President and PP Leader Sushil Koirala as the unanimous candidate for PM, NC source said and CPN UML will be it's main collation partner even while forming the majority government. CPN UML has been backing its long time proposal to elect the new president from the CA which has been arguing that there should be new President as the nation has fresh CA and President should come from the fresh mandate. Present President and Vice President were elected from the first CA which was dissolved by former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai.NC, CPN Maoist and other several parties are in favor of present president saying Promulgation of New Constitution is the present priority.
NC leader has said that the party now will start a fresh negotiation with main partner and second largest party in CA, CPN UML on power sharing and there will be new government led by NC soon.
