After police discovered that Chari has returned to Kathmandu, they were aware of him traveling through Kathmandu-Dhading border as Chari is vice chairman of Dhading constituency no-2.On the day of his killing, police noticed that some suspicious person was passing through the graveled road of Bhimdhunga which is the optional main highway to Dhading, A police van followed the person on red pulsar bike, when the police were about to arrest the suspect, he opened fire on police and there police also fired back and the person fell down and came to know that it was notorious don Chari.
Later the chief of Crime Divison Pushkar Karki and media were called and his body was brought to TU Teaching hospital for post mortem but the family and his supporters have denied to accept the body claiming that it was a murder but not a cross firing. Out of the blue former miss teen 2006 Khusbu Oli came to Hospital and told the media that Chari was her boyfriend and they were going to get engaged this Dashain, angered by her relationship with Chari her former lover and friend named Arpan Koirala conspired to kill him who had threaten her many times before that he would kill Chari one day. She further claimed that another police officer named Kumud Dhungel who because of his unexpressed love and affection towards her has also the same motive as Arpan and misused his power to kill Chari who was already on police wanted list.

This week the news of Chari killing has flooded Nepali TV, print and social media where most of the people have applauded Nepal police but many people have disagreed with what police did saying everyone has right to live in Nepal's law including the criminal that there should be maximum try to catch them instead of shooting them to death which is a extrajudicial murder.
