The second election of Constituent Assembly (CA) has been completed except few constituencies where the election dates has been scheduled. The national and international election Observers, media, election commission and security bodies have said that the election was fair and peaceful. The vote counting on FPTP (direct election) 240 constituencies have almost completed, where Nepali congress have won more than 100 seats and UML following with more than 90 seats whereas CPN Maoist has won only around 26 seats.The vote counting on Proportional Representation system is underway. CPN UML is leading in the results on PR system. It seems that the counting process will be completed within a week.There has been a tough competition between Nepali Congress and CPN UML.Only after the Vote counting on PR system will determine which party will have the highest number of CA member in the CA.
This election has shown few important lesson to the parties that people are in favor of peaceful and democratic way of political system in the country and they don't want the Federal States on the name of the casts. Those parties putting forward the caste based Federal System have suffered a serious loss whereas Nepali Congress and CPN UML with Federal States based on multiple identity and Geography have won higher seats.
Another important lesson this election has shown is that Nepali people are aware of the politics now that they don't want the parties who only give false hopes and make a lot of commitments but can't make any changes in the livelihood of the people.People are very impatient that they don't want to spare any time. People want faster development in a democratic and peaceful way which in fact
is durable and the right way.
In this election specially UCN Maoist, Madesh based parties and other parties based on regional identity have been rejected by the majority of the people. This doesn't mean that they completely agree with Nepali Congress and CPN UML, but agree on most of their principles. CPN Maoist Chairman Prachanda has faced a defeat from the Nepali Congress candidate Rajan KC in kathmandu constituency 10 and Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai has been defeated from Rupandehi-4.
CPN Maoist which was the largest party in Previous CA election has become only the third power now. After the initial vote counting results, CPN Maoist had called a Emergency Headquarter Meeting and decided to step out of the vote counting process, they has called a Press Conference
and demanded the Election Commission to halt the counting process and investigate the fairness of the election. But Election Commission continued the counting process stating the whole election process was based on law, directives and the election was free and fair. Maoist Chairman Prachanda had even warned that they will not go to the CA and will step out of the whole election process if their demand is not heard. Many party leaders, the President and international Observers like Former US President Jimmy carter have met Prachanda and requested him to accept the verdict of people. There is always win and loss in election games but one should respect the voters choice and evaluate their own weakness and improve themselves so that they will regain Peoples support in future.
Some Leaders have made history wining all 5 consecutive election in their constituencies, that shows their popularity and the importance that they should have been responsible towards the voters all the time.
