In an exciting opening match between Nepal and Bangladesh, Nepal has registered it's first victory in the 10th SAFF Championship Football Championship being held at Dashrath Stadium.In the home ground in front of 17 thousand audiences, Anil Gurung opened team's first goal at 18th minute of the first half.He turned a beautiful cross by header into an amazing swing into the post from the right side.Cheered and encouraged from the first goal, Bharat Khawas didn't waste a sec to push the ball into post at 32 minute when a swinging ball from the corner just dropped in front of the post and 3 of the Bangladeshi defenders stepped forward to get the ball. Hadn't they moved forward and Bharat Khawas just didn't measure the accurate velocity of the ball, it was just perfect to double the chance of wining and Nepali players just did it perfect.
Welcomed with cheers and hooting, the second half was a bit laggy even though Nepal was still showing her Gorkhe soul, they were dominant over Bangladesh most of time giving them not any opportunity to push them ball into Nepali post.Nepal created several beautiful moves on the second half too.There was no goal from any side on the second half, so the full time score became Nepal 2-Bangaladesh 0.
Bharat Khawas has been the man of the match at this match.
Nepal said to be on the death zone on the qualifying Group has increased it's chance to move into the second round.Nepal will play with Pakistan on Tuesday at the same stadium.
This is the second time that Nepal is hosting the biggest Football Event in South Asian level.The Tournament has begun from 31st August and ends at 11th September 2013.
