A Nepalese Student has won the Microsoft Excel 2010 World Competition 2013.Himal Shrestha of Chelsea International Academy kathmandu has bagged he award securing top position out of the 285,000 candidates from 53 different countries. A total of 113 students had taken part in the final.Himal Shrestha-17 is the A level student now. He has been awarded with USD 5,000 scholarship as well. This is the 12th year of Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Excel.
Finalist were given 50 minutes of time to demonstrate their skill on various tests of creating spreadsheet for the information presented in Microsoft Excel.
Himal says he couldn't believe it when his name was announced as the champion. In the final a friend from Brunei was standing along with him for the winner's Title.
Himal recalls his time when he saw a device named computer at him home when he was only 3.He used to wonder and watch interestingly for hrs. when his brother played in the computer. This passion grew and grew until he has designed several personal website templates when he was at the grade 8.After wining the title, he is encouraged to find his professional career in the same sector. He has expressed happiness through Facebook after being the champion saying "This is the pride for all of the Nepalese People in technology sector like the Himal (Mountain is called Himal in Nepalese) has been for Years".

This success has proved and encouraged other youths in Nepal that we are capable of competing with anyone on any field in the world.Himal's father Padam Shrestha says, "This success is for our nation, he has made all of us proud".
Himal is a brilliant student from the very beginning, he had scored 92.87 Percent marks in the SLC exam. There has been piles of comments on his Facebook congratulating him for this success. Hope the nation will recognize this genius young man and help him for further extended study so that he can invent something new in the technology sector. The nation must provide appropriate environment to encourage such talents and utilize their talent. If we don't, others world will definitely invite him like many other talents are working abroad.
