Bhai Teeka Day Being Celebrated Today


Today is the 5th and  most important day of Tihar or Dipawali festival.
The auspicios time for Bhai Teeka Today is at 11:27 am according to the National Calender Determination Coommittee.
Today brothers get Bhai Teeka on their forehead which is 7 in coloures and vertical in shape and Garland of Flowers, sweets and various delicious foods from their sisters.Brothers in return give back gifts and money to their sisters.
Later there will be feast in the family, cell rotis are the essential part of the Tihar festival.After Bhai Teeka and feasting, the Deusi will begin, friends and other members of the family go door to door in various groups singing Deuisi song which goes like this:

Dweller of the home give the Deusi Group Fruits, Cellroti, Rice, Maize and Money.Children and Teenagers also make their own group to play Deusi.Clubs, Mother's Groups and various other groups organize Deusi Program at their area and sometimes  raise money for charity too.
The Deusi process normally ends the following day although there is a tradition of going out for Deusi until the Ekadasi (11th Day Of the Dark Moon), That day Tihar festival officially ends however only the first 5 days of the Tihar are most importanly celebrated.
Five Days Of Tihar Fetival 

Day 1. Kag Tihar (Praying Of Crow)
Day 2. Kukur Tihar (Praying Of Dogs)
Day 3. Gai Tihar And Laxi Pooja(Praying of Cow which is the national animal of Nepal and Praying of wealth, Ornaments, money etc)
Day 4. Gobardhan Pooja or Goru Pooja(Praying of their Oxen which are the farmer's important friends)
Day 5. Bhai Teeka (Praying Brothers and giving away Teeka)
